The City of Granite Shoals is located just outside of Marble Falls and is surrounded by Lake LBJ boasting.  Granite Shoals got its name from the granite sandbars that used to be visible from the Colorado River before the construction of Wirtz Dam and Lake LBJ.  It was originally developed as a lake resort subdivision but has now become its own community.  It has approximately eight miles of waterfront, 18 parks, 16 of which are waterfront, and several boat ramps for resident use and a newly renovated Community Center.  Granite Shoals has approximately eight miles of waterfront and planned areas of over 13.6 square miles.  It is located just west of Marble Falls.  It is a popular community offering affordable off-water residential homes and many lakefront homes often used as second homes by their owners.  The city's municipal complex is home to the Andy Roddick Foundation International Tennis Center.  If the city’s name doesn’t say it, the major industry in the area is granite mining.
