Central Austin
Central Austin is in the heart of the city and surrounds the downtown area with neighborhoods such as Allandale, Balcones Park, Barton Hills, Bryker Woods, Clarksville, Hyde Park, Tarrytown. The South Congress area is a popular area featuring smaller homes, many in the Craftsman style, plus condos, shopping and many restaurants.
The area boasts the University of Texas Main Campus so there are many UT Campus Condos in this area too. Many parents purchase condos while their children are students at UT instead of renting an apartment or having a dorm room.
Lake Austin flows through parts of this area and Zilker Park, a popular weekend destination is also found here.
